Generous and kind, Girish Rao was once a pillar of strength for Shanti-Sadan as well as Holeyuva Betta. Now his health is deteriorating, and so is the pillar that once supported the Rao family and the town. Partly because of his old age, but mostly because of the family quarrel.

Girish Rao's grandfather had started a small restaurant which grew bigger over time. Business was good for a while. And Shanti-Sadan was built as a symbol of their family's success. When his father took the reigns of the business, he had a vision to expand their small family business into an empire. But things did not go as planned. Their financial condition got so bad that they were about to lose their family home. Almost everything else was lost and dark clouds hovered over Shanti-Sadan.
That's when young Girish Rao stepped in. He strived to build their family's empire from scratch, once again. And within a few years, it was bigger than ever before, not just on Holeyuva Betta (Shining Hill), but throughout the State. A self-made man in the truest sense, Girish Rao had seen it all- failure, success and everything in between, which made him a better, stronger man.
As he grew older, Girish Rao's two children, Kalyan and Venkat, continued the family legacy. But when his older son Kalyan fell into the clutches of a gambling problem, Girish Rao took a decision that broke his heart. He gave a bigger share of the business to his younger son, Venkat, instead of going the equal way. Girish had seen tough times in his younger days and he wanted to protect the interest of the family. So he had to make that tough choice, which he later regretted. For he saw what it did to their family.
He has played an important role in shaping the young minds in Shanti-Sadan. He's fondly called ajja by his grandchildren and is very close with all of them. And even though he could never admit it, Adhira has been his favorite. They always shared a very special bond.
but since he had a stroke about a decade ago, his health has been in a poor condition. And even though he can't speak much anymore, he communicates with Adhira in a language only they both understand. A language of love.
Meet Girish Rao in the suspense novel Where The Stars Don't Shine...
